The first campaign is the Federation which starts between Star Trek The Motion Picture and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. You’re playing as Mathew Reynolds and taking over your first command along the Klingon Neutral Zone, putting you in the line of Klingon hostilities. The Klingon Campaign picks up about 30 years after the Federation one ends, right around the Khitomer Massacre, putting you at war with the Romulans. There, you’ll be taking the Captain’s chair as Commander Kadir, a Klingon of a noble house, who is eager to work his way up the Klingon ranks and prove his warrior status. There’s a bit of an uneasy truce with the Federation at this stage so you’ll not only be protecting your borders against the Romulans, but also you’ll be trying to figure out how to interact peacefully with the Federation. Klingons haven’t had a lot of practice at that. As you progress in each campaign, your crew can gain promotions which will increase their abilities.

FEDERATION MISSION 1
NAME: Shakedown
STARDATE: 7428.6
SHIP: USS Essex Federation Frigate

Captain's Log, Stardate 7428.6.  Admiral Jacobs, Starfleet Commander in this sector, has ordered me to my first command -- the frigate USS Essex, which has just been commissioned.  This shakeown cruise will allow me to familiarize myself with the crew and this new vessel.  In many ways, this will be the first for all of us.

NAME: Hostilities
STARDATE: 7436.9
SHIP: USS Essex Federation Frigate

Captain's Log, Stardate 7436.9.  The Essex has been ordered to patrol duty along the Klingon Neutral Zone for the next thirty days.  We are scheduled to depart immediately from spacedock, leaving behind our friends and family for the last year.  While this assignment is indeed important, I can't help but wish our first undertaking would be a bit more exciting.

FEDERATION MISSION 3
NAME: Border Patrol
STARDATE: 7442.8
SHIP: USS Essex Federation Frigate

Captain's Log, Stardate 7442.8.  Our orders are to patrol the third sector of the Klingon/Federation Neutral Zone, which has lately been a hotbed of smuggling activity by freighter captains.  Unfortunately that makes our Klingons friends a bit antsy -- they don't appreciate intruders.

NAME: Ambassador Escort
STARDATE: 7449.3
SHIP: USS Essex Federation Frigate

Captain's Log, Stardate 7449.3.  Negotiations with the Klingon High Command have started to bear fruit under the direction of Vulcan Ambassador Sorlin.  His ship, the Taopok, is returning from Kronos to discuss his progress with the Admiralty.  We are to escort his ship from the Klingon side of the Zone.  The Admiral indicated in his order that he didn't expect any problems, but it's best to be on alert.

FEDERATION MISSION 5
NAME: Cloaked
STARDATE: 7457.2
SHIP: USS Amundsen Federation Destroyer

Captain's Log, Stardate 7457.2.  The political situation is tense.  With Ambassador Sorlin dead, our negotiations with the Klingons are in disarray.  However, Outpost 11 has picked up what they believe is the assassin's ship on their long range sensors.  Course information has been relayed to us via subspace and I have been ordered to pursue.  The Admiral made it very clear that I am authorized to use any means to destroy this Romulan ship.
