GENERAL QUESTIONS ANSWERS

Question 1. When did Star Trek Legacy come out?
December 8th 2006 for the North American PC Version.  December 15th 2006 for the North American XBOX 360 version. International release dates are unreliable and most were January 2007.

Question 2. What platforms is Star Trek Legacy on?
XBOX 360 and Windows PC.

Question 3. Who developed and published Star Trek Legacy?
Mad Doc Software was the developer and Bethesda Softworks was the publisher for North America.  Ubisoft was the publisher for international releases.

Question 4. How long was the game been in development?
This is unclear.  The graphics engine has been in development since 2002 according to Dr. Ian Davis at Mad Doc Software.  It's unlikely they were developing the actual game at this time though.  No matter when it started, it was rushed to be released.  The game had a complete storyline change in early 2006, a mere 6 months before the game's first release date. Entire missions, story cinematics, and voice work had to be scrapped to release the game in time for the 40th Anniversary.  Much of this can be seen in the "Extras" on the game.  The result is a disconnected story in the game itself.  The developers also wanted to release historical missions, but those too had to be scrapped as there was no time to complete them.

Question 5. What are the PC system requirements?
These are the PC minimum requirements:
  • Windows XP (Home, Media Center or Pro Editions)
    with Service Pack 2
  • DirectX Version 9.0c
  • Intel Pentium 4 (2.66ghz or higher)
or AMD Athlon XP 2800+ or higher
  • DX9 compatible AGP 8X or PCI Express video card,
128 MB VRAM, Pixel Shader 1.4
  • 16-bit Direct Sound compatible sound card,
speakers or headphones required for audio
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 5 GB free space
  • LAN or Broadband connection (DSL or Cable Modem)
    for Multiplayer
  • Windows compatible Keyboard & Mouse

Question 6. What is the game's ESRB Rating?
The game is rated E for Everyone 10+ with cautions of Fantasy Violence and Mild Language.

Question 7. Is there a demo?
There is only a demo for the XBOX 360 version, which is downloadable from Xbox Live.

GAME QUESTIONS ANSWERS

Question 1. What ships can you command?
STGU has been keeping a fantastic list of the ships seen in screenshots thus far: https://stgu.com/startreklegacy/wiki.php/Category:Ships In multiplayer, you can play as any of the 4 races in the game: Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Borg

Question 2. What enemies do you encounter?
Borg, Klingons, and Romulans.

Question 3. What is the story?
See our story synopsis page.

Question 4. Is there a multiplayer?
Yes, it will be up to 4 players via XBOX Live or internet connection with a max of 16 ships.  Originally the game was to support 8 players, but that did not happen in the final version.

Question 5. Did any Star Trek actors do voicework for Star Trek Legacy?
Shatner, Picard, Brooks, Mulgrew, and Bakula will all provide voice work for the game.  This made Legacy the first game to feature the voices of all the Star Trek captains.

Question 6. Are there any differences between the XBOX 360 and PC versions?
There will be differences in pace and balance between the versions due to the difference in controllability between the platforms.  For example, computer mouse and keyboard controls are faster and more precise than the XBOX 360 controller, so the PC version will expect faster and more precise reactions.

The PC version has been found to be hard to control without using a USB XBOX controller.  The game seems to be designed with the XBOX 360 version in mind.  The 360 version, however, does not support community mods, which the PC version obviously does.

Question 7. What are Command Points?
They are earned through completing missions and can be traded in for new ships or upgrades.

Question 8. Can you command non-Starfleet ships in multiplayer?
Yes.
