If you're ever stuck, look at your captain's log for mission objectives and/or talk to your crew for advice. You can also use the communicator to talk to crew members who aren't nearby.

Look at everything (including inventory items). Even a rock laying on the ground could be of use to you in some way.

SAVE OFTEN!

Talk to everyone you can. They will most often give you important clues.

In some cases you may need to combine inventory items.

Some puzzles may have more than one solution.

Try everything you can and revisit other rooms if you find yourself stuck. You may have overlooked something.
