Dynaverse is the multiplayer component of Starfleet Command 3. It
allows you to join one of four empires and fight alongside and
against other captains for control of the galaxy. You’ll be able to
form fleets with your friends to raid enemy convoys, siege planets,
and attack enemy fortifications. Each victory will bring your side
more prestige to bolster its forces for future conflicts. |

Real time. |
|
10. Is this game available on other platforms?
Nope. |

11. Is there a demo available?
No, there isn't a demo for this game for some reason. However, the
game is very similar to the previous Starfleet Command games, so if
you play the demos for those games, you'll have a good idea of what
you expect from SFC3 |
GAME QUESTIONS
ANSWERS
|
1. Where are the Borg
missions?
The Borg missions are only available in the Best Buy version of the
game. |
|
2. What does “Angular Velocity” mean and how
does it play out in the game?
Angular Velocity represents how much your target ship’s path is
deviating from yours and how quickly. The higher the angular
velocity between you and your targets ships, the more likely weapon
fire, like torpedo loads will miss. Since the Angular Velocity is
the sum of both ship’s trajectories, you can improve your chance to
hit by limiting your ship’s movement or simply by tractoring or
following your target. |
|
3. Why can’t my Tactical
officer fire multiple torpedoes at enemies?
The manual incorrectly states that a high Weapons Tech skill will
allow your Tactical officer to fire multiple torpedoes in one
volley. It is a high Targeting skill that allows your officer to
perform this feat. |
|
4. What does "Levels Away" mean in the officers
screen?
When officers are leveling up, they receive special skills based on
what station they specialize in. Officer skills that are displayed
as "x levels away" are counting down towards the value at which the
special skill activates. |
|
5. Can I play as a Ferengi
in Skirmish?
You cannot play as a Ferengi in Skirmish. You can only play as
Federation, Romulan, Klingon or Borg. |
|
6. What is disrepute?
When you are bidding on a ship in the Dynaverse and you change the
value of your ship(which is being used as collateral in the
purchase) to be less than the original amount used for collateral
you will accrue "Disrepute". To make your ship worth less during a
bidding cycle is easy to do. All you have to do is sell off your
shields or weapons in the refit screen and accept. To get rid of or
"Pay-off" the disrepute you have accrued, you will need to play
missions and you will receive 50% of the prestige you would normally
get, the other 50% will go to the disrepute you have gained. |
|
7. Why is my prestige set to zero in Dynaverse
after I die?
The way the Dynaverse is currently set up, when you die with less
than 5000 prestige it appears you loose all your prestige but in
reality you are buying your replacement ship. The replacement ship
for all races is approximately 5100 prestige. If you have more than
the required prestige (5100 or so) you will see your prestige drop
by the amount of your replacement ship. This can be easily
calculated if you die with more than the amount of your ship and
doing the math between the "Trade-In" value if your ship in the
Supply dock and the amounts before and after you died in the
Dynaverse. |
|
8. Can I back out of a bid
once it is placed?
Once a bid is placed on a ship, you are locked into that bid. You
cannot back out of a bid once it has been placed. |
|
9. Can you capture other
ships in Multiplayer?
No. |
|
10. How does the bidding system work in
Dynaverse?
The Starfleet Command III bidding system is similar to the Ebay
bidding system in that you can make a bid of the max amount you are
willing to pay for the ship or starbase. This price is hidden from
other people bidding on the same ship. |

11. How do I turn a neutral
planet in a hex that I own back to a planet that I own?
The answer to this question is not an easy one to explain. The
lifecycle of a hex with a planet is a confusing one. The following
steps need to happen for a planet hex to turn from one faction to
another:
1) The planet in the hex must be defeated, thus
turning the planet neutral.
2) Next, the defense value of the hex needs to be brought down to
nothing.
3) One more battle in that hex should take it to Neutral, leaving
us a neutral planet and hex.
4) Now, the hex defense value must again be brought down to
nothing.
5) Another battle should make the hex belong to the other faction
as well as the planet.
In this scenario, the planet and hex turn to the
other faction at the same time. The question comes in after step 1.
We at this point have a hex that belongs to the Federation (for
example) that has a planet in it that is neutral. If the Federation
wants to get this planet back (which is what the question is), the
Federation must first lose control of the hex and regain control of
the hex.

|
12. Are we allowed to have two starbases?
You are only able to have in tow one starbase or other structure at
any given time. If you have one starbase and want to purchase
another, deliver the starbase you have currently then return to a
shipyard and purchase another. If you currently have a starbase and
attempt to buy another, you will lose the original starbase you had
in tow. |
|
13. Does the game feature any Star Trek cast
members?
Yes. The game features voice-overs from Patrick Stewart. |
