History
Star Trek: Supremacy is partially based on the game Galactic Supremacy, created by Mike Strobel as a class project in Spring 2006. The original Galactic Supremacy, also simply called Supremacy, was intended as a warm-up exercise for the larger and more advanced Star Trek: Supremacy project. During the development of Supremacy, Mike posted regular updates to the Birth of the Federation II (BOTF2) forums in hopes that the community would be willing to provide suggestions and assist with playtesting.

As development of the original Supremacy game drew to a close, members of the BOTF2 staff contacted Mike and proposed a collaboration and sharing of resources in light of the recent departure of the BOTF2 lead programmer. Since then, Mike has joined forces with the BOTF2 staff, and together they have worked closely to finalize the BOTF2 game specifications. The resulting game design will form the foundation for both the Star Trek: Supremacy project and the Star Trek: New Beginnings project being developed by Jigalypuff. These two projects share creative resources in the form of game data, art, and music.

Development
The core framework of Star Trek: Supremacy is being developed in C# for the .NET Framework v2.0. The graphical client is being developed in C# and XAML using the Windows Presentation Foundation or "WPF" (formerly code-named "Avalon"). At the moment, additional developers are not required. However, as development progresses, we may seek out additional contributors in the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • 3D Graphics with Managed Direct3D
