Deep Space Nine The Fallen: Story Synopsis

TREKCORE > GAMING > THE FALLEN > Story Synopsis

For those not familiar with the The Fallen, the game has one central storyline that is divided into three campaigns: Sisko, Kira, and Worf.  Each campaign goes through the same story from beginning to end but each of the characters has different missions that get them to that end.  For example, while Sisko is doing something, Kira is doing something else, and depending on what campaign you are in, that is what you will do...

BRIEF OVERVIEW - Taken from the Official Site

A mysterious alien species resides in the wormhole. The Bajorans refer to them as the Prophets, and worship them as gods - the wormhole is their Celestial Temple. The Prophets can see into the future as well as they can see into the past, for both are the same to them. They are extraordinarily powerful - and they're not the only ones of their kind.

An ancient Bajoran legend tells of another race of wormhole aliens - the Pah-wraiths - that were cast out of the Celestial Temple by the Prophets. Three Red Orbs are said to hold the key to their resurrection and restoration to power - but none had ever been found...

...until now.

An obscure cult has emerged, worshipping these fallen prophets - the True Prophets, they say. And their mysterious leader has discovered a Red Orb. The Cult of the Pah-wraiths believes that bringing together the three lost Red Orbs will free the Pah-wraiths from their eternal incarceration, triggering the Final Reckoning with the Prophets.

And so the race is on to find the Red Orbs. To the winner go the spoils of what may be the most awesome power ever unleashed...power to create a new, Golden Age - or to trigger Armageddon.

 DETAILED STORY SYNOPSIS

PROLOGUE

During the last days of the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, a scientist named Terrell was leading a study on an orb of the Pah Wraiths.  In the test several Cardassian guards were "vaporized" and Terrelll was forced to abandon the project as the Cardassians abandoned Terok Nor.  The lab was sealed and remained undiscovered for several years...

STORY

The Fallen begins on Stardate 51957.1 which places it near the end of Season 6 of Deep Space Nine.  The Defiant responds to a distress call from the Bajoran science ship Ke'el Tul.  When they arrive, it is determined the ship was attacked, but there are no other ships in range. Due to interferenc, Sisko takes a shuttle over to the Ke'el Tul to tag survivors with transport enhancers.  While on the Bajoran ship, the Grigari ship decloaks and attacks the Defiant.  O'Brien iss injured in the attack so Worf works to restore impulse power and the tactical systems. After several encounters with Grigari boarding parties, Worf repairs the systems as Sisko tags the last Bajoran survivor.  They return to DS9.

During Sisko and Worf's mission with the Ke'el Tul, Kira is visiting an old friend named Obanak Keelan at a monastery on Bajor.  Obanak is now leader of a Pah Wraith cult who believes the Prophets have abandoned the Bajorans.  He asks Kira to put pressure on the Vedek Assembly to let his cult explore an ancient temple on Jerado.  While there, a group of mercenaries called the kahl-taan is sent by the Vedek Assembly to attack.  They knock out the monasteries communications tower and beam troops in.  While fighting them off, Kira restores communications allowing her and Obanak to contact the Runabout for transport off the planet. She returns to DS9 to meet with Sisko and Worf.

On DS9, Cardassian bodies are discovered fused into the hull from the last days of the Occupation. Odo begins an investigation.  Obanak recommends going to Jeraddo (an abandoned Bajoran Moon) to investigate a temple.  Sisko agrees because he feels it will help him understand nightmares he has been having recently.

On Jeraddo, Sisko, Kira, and Worf search and recover artifacts from the temple amid another assault from the kahl-taan.  Sisko finds a mural in the temple that he takes a holo-image of.  They return to DS9 and find that the mural depicts 3 orbs of the Pah Wraiths and the wormhole, but the relationship between them is not certain.

The Cardassian Carnellian Circle sends Dejar to investigate the dead soldiers, who are believed to have been part of Dukat's Elite Guard.  It is determined that the Cardassians were not beamed into the hull, but rather a spatial distortion hit them and the hull they became incased in.  The abandoned lab is also discovered.  Sisko takes Dejar to the lab, not knowing that Dejar is actually Terrell, the scientist who used the lab.  Terrell steals the orb and escapes.

It is now determined that the 3 orbs are keys to Ascension and can release the Pah Wraiths with the opening of a second wormhole.  With the 3 orbs, Terrell could create a weapon capable of forming transient subspace ruptures.

In an attempt to secure themselves one of the orbs, Starfleet authorizes a mission to recover an orb from the USS Ulysses which crashed on SR-III years earlier.  After Worf and Sisko beam down to recover the orb, Lt. Sulak, who is actually a changeling, sabotages the Defiant.  When Worf and Sisko get the orb, they are captured by Dominion forces and sent to the prison Arduria.  The Defiant is boarded and captured as well.

Kira, Worf, and Sisko all end up in Arduria prison.  They all escape their cells and Sisko manages to make it to the Defiant and beams the Defiant crew back.  They return to DS9 with the SR-III orb.

A new mission is drawn up to recover Terrell's orb.  Major Kira is disguised as a Cardassian scientist named Alira Rejal and sent to Hass'Terral to infiltrate the base.  Worf and Sisko also go to Hass'Terral, but are sent undisguised.  Eventually they all reach Terrel and the last orb, but Obanak and several Grigari beam down and take it.  They shoot Terrell and before she dies she reveals that the orbs can be destroyed with graviton beams from modified phasers.  As Obanak leaves, he reveals that another contingent of Grigari is already invading DS9 to capture the third orb.

Sisko, Worf, and Kira return to DS9 on the Defiant and find the station overrun with Grigari.  They fight their way through them, but Obanak manages to perform a ritual on the 3 orbs that gives him the power of the Pah Wraiths.  Together, Sisko, Worf, and Kira manage to kill Obanak and the orbs disappear...
