GAME QUESTIONS ANSWERS

1. Where is the Cadet's Lounge?
Unfortunately, this feature wasn't included in the final release of Starfleet Academy. Some manuals were printed before we were able to finish production of the game, and unfortunately, some items mentioned in the game manual didn't make it in the final product.
2. How do I save my game?
Saving your game in Star Fleet Academy can only be done at the end of a mission. During this time, you will see a "save" button on the right side of the menu that says SAVE. When you click on the SAVE button, it will become highlighted. Then, at the left side of the window, there will now be a row of slots that might all be called "-----save-----" or have a similar name. Double-click on one of these slots and a little cursor will appear. Use your keyboard and type in a name that you want to use to describe the game you are saving. Then press the ENTER key on your keyboard. You should see a message telling you that your game has been saved.
3. Should I fire at the enemy's weapons or impulse drive?
Pummel the impulse drive until the ship is immobilized (this is best accomplished by following directly behind the enemy. You can now either attack any other hostile ships or finish off the ship you are attacking. All ships have more than one phaser/disruptor, and many have multiple photon launchers. You'll spend a lot more time blowing up weaponry than you will knocking out an impulse drive.
4. During combat, I'm receiving too much information from the crew. Who should I listen to?
Don't ignore your crew, but don't pay TOO much attention to them. Robin will report every time a shield or system is damaged. You don't need to worry when shields are hit. Worry about damage control AFTER you are out of harm's way.
5. At Epsilon, a Klingon D7 beamed Governor Ryan off of the planet. How do I rescue him?
Attack the D7 until it's shields go down, then beam the governor aboard.
6. My orders were to find a cloaked Romulan starship and prevent it from reaching the Neutral Zone. It escaped, but I didn't fail.
No matter what the outcome is, as long as your ship survives, you win the mission.
7. Does the cloned Tempest need to be in operational order when I return with it back to the USS Hawking?
You do not have to return the other Tempest in any special condition (ie: with both warp nacelles intact). As long as you don't blow the clone ship up, you will be able to complete the mission.
8. I can't seem to beat the Klingon Ber'taa Class Heavy Cruiser.
The Ber'taa Class Heavy Cruiser has 6 foreward disruptors and 4 foreward torpedo launchers, as well as 2 aft disruptors. Because of this, you will want to stay to it's side or back. Do not let the Ber'taa face you or the battle will end rather quickly. Using hit-and-run is also a good idea.
9. What about the Kobayashi Maru? How can I possibly accomplish that mission?
In the cutscene before this mission, you will have the chance to cheat. The "correct" course of action is to reprogram the simulator to make the Klingons respect and fear you. After you pick up the supplies, you will get a distress call from the Kobayashi Maru, a civilian transport in the Klingon Neutral Zone. Against the wishes of your crew, go into the neutral zone and go to Yellow Alert. As soon as the Klingon ships arrive, hail them. They will leave the area, leaving you to rescue the Maru. Mission Accomplished. You are the second cadet to beat the Kobayashi Maru "No-Win" Mission.
