Game Is First STAR TREK Title To Deliver Captains Kirk’ and Picard’ Together On CD-ROM

Alameda, CA, STARDATE May 21, 1997 - Leading entertainment software company Spectrum HoloByte, Inc. (Nasdaq-NNM: SBYT) announced today that its Star Trek Generations CD-ROM for Windows® 95 has shipped. Based on the Paramount Pictures film, the action adventure game is being published under the MicroProse® brand name and distributed worldwide.

Licensed through Viacom Consumer Products, Star Trek Generations’ features the two captains of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE’, Captains Kirk’ and Picard’, together for the first time in one game. As an enhancement to the gaming experience, Star Trek Generations includes the character voices of the movie cast members, including William Shatner, Patrick Stewart and Malcolm McDowell as Soran’, the evil scientist bent on intergalactic destruction.

The game is a mix of first-person action sequences, challenging ship-to-ship battles, strategy sessions in stellar cartography and original cinematic sequences, all inspired by the hit movie and created using 3-D technology. The story line of the game is closely tied to the STAR TREK GENERATIONS’ film, in which Kirk and Picard join forces to defeat Soran. The game also includes realistic STAR TREK graphics, music and sound effects, in order to further immerse the player in the Star Trek universe.

Star Trek Generations supports MMX’ technology from Intel Corporation, MMX technology will accelerate game speed by an average of 20 percent and enhances the overall quality of the game's graphics. Consumers who do not have hardware compatible with MMX technology can still enjoy the game on their PC.
