TREKCORE > GAMING > STAR TREK THE BIRDS OF PREY > Press Release “Choose your Mission - Jumbuck Entertainment launches Two out of this world Star Trek games for your mobile phone to great reviews!” December 12th 2004, Jumbuck Entertainment today announced the release of two new thrilling wireless games, based on Star Trek: The Original Series. Licensed from Viacom Consumer Products, Jumbuck has created two games based on the cult classic series, titled Star Trek - The Birds of Prey and Star Trek -The Cold Enemy. Designed to appeal to Star Trek fans and gamers of all ages, the series has been brought to life in these two games, each featuring varying strategy, action and skill levels. Awarded 8.9 out of a possible 10 on Wireless Gaming Review (WGR), Star Trek: The Birds of Prey was praised by Steve Palley, WGR Editor and Reviewer, as “one of those exceedingly rare media-licensed mobile games that flies in the face of convention. It's not only a pleasant surprise--it's a spectacular action game that is easily one of the best shooters on the mobile platform”. Both games combine original music and classic storyline from the series; awesome color and sound effects and a mix of primitive and advanced alien weaponry to create a unique and thrilling game play in the true spirit of Star Trek: The Original Series. Star Trek - The Cold Enemy, is a platform scrolling adventure game where U.S.S Enterprise is overrun by Klingon warriors. Users take on the role of the ship’s engineer, Scotty, and race through 6 levels of fast paced action to free their trapped shipmates. They travel through exotic planet surfaces and foreboding underground caverns, encountering enemies both familiar and new! Star Trek - The Birds of Prey, is a vertical arcade-style shooter game where the user takes command of the U.S.S Enterprise. Flying in combat against familiar enemies from the original series – the Klingons and Romulans – users have to fight their way through oncoming ships, contend with wormholes, giant-planet based cannons, and avoid and maneuver through dangerous solar flares. Jumbuck Entertainment CEO, Adrian Risch, stated “These are Jumbuck’s best games yet! The high profile brand, coupled with great game play and strict quality assurance processes were key to both games success. Star Trek is a valuable asset and to ensure we met the expectations of the legion of fans we worked in close cooperation with Viacom and fans to get the design right.” In conjunction with the two Star Trek games Jumbuck will launch a dedicated web site in January. On this site, users can read detailed product description, see live game demo’s, gain tips on game play and purchase the game directly from the site or be directed to their preferred carrier for purchase.
