Metar summary:
Capital world: Cadimus Prime System, Cadimus II (desert and dust planet),
Al-Deta system, Al-Fadir (enviroment very similar to that present on Cadimus
II with small exception: very small resource deposits), Hrim system,
Hrimfraxi (ice world, which has significant deposits of Talgonite)
Interstellar flight: yes (organic starships, also used as their colony cores
when being at planet's surface)
General characteristic: brutish raw force, no mercy, nonlogical actions,
organic, disguisting alien lifeforms, determined survivors
General tactics: very quick and strong, long and short range attacks,
swarming the enemy, from time to time, sometimes, even their leader attacks
- Metar Ras, generally - all possible tactics
Background:
Well, if you read texts from previous pages you should know pretty much what
exactly the Metar is, but in case you hadn't, I'll just have to repeat that.
Metar is, saying using short terms, the big badness, great evil, unusal and
bad character. How they came to exist, of course, no one knows. This is that
kind of race as you might remind organic species from 'Voyager' series (I
forget their real name, damn it, so far I remeber it was a 4 digit name, and
the first was an 8). The Metar uses organic material to create structures,
vehicles and starships. The consistence of organic material is the same as
from the Metar being are created, thus everything of them and everything
they create, simply lives. A fascinating and frightening combination. How
they create this material in order to use it as a resource, is purely
unknown. The name Metar does not belong to them, however. It's a shortcut of
two names: Met and Are: Met-Are -> Met-Ar(e) -> MetAr -> Metar, named by the
Federation. Every encounter with them ends in battle. Their goals always
oscillates around destructon of everyting that in not them. Why? It's an
another question without answer. Metar orginates from Tabula Rasa's systems.
It seems they were first to 'colonize' these worlds, maybe they were even
born there, so they treat any visitor as a potential threat. Their motives
are unexplained (as everything related to them). Metar units are the state
of the art of biological evolution. They're fast, maneuverable and fires
devastating pure energy. They have an ability to adjust their bodyforms to
the other kinds of weapons they encounter. During single generation, Metar
might become very strong opponent (if not invincible). They also have
curious ability to temporary create a static in any scanning device (e.g.
tricorder), which seriously makes the hard time for anyone who wants to
track Metar unit(s). Only death of such 'interferer'
will restore scanner's previous functionality. Many of you might think the
Metar looks exactly as their units does, but it's not true. You see, they
are similar to organic species from 'Voyager' or rather they are similar to
their counterparts' habits. They are organic
and
they're normally entering their organic vehicles ('body' of vehicle contains
body of Meta r
pilot - besides, here is my imagination of such potential look of Metar
pilot with the mask on his face). As for a proof, here is a screenshot showcasing the
bridge of Metar starship. It is is built of organic material, yes, but
it also have instruments, which allows to contol ship's subsystems like in
normal vessel. So the Metar vehicles are not the outlook of the Metar beings.
The creatures lives in strange societies, more precisely in a subterranean
societies. The leaders of Metar are called as 'Metar Ras'.
Once
one of their children is under attack all neigbouring Metar knows exact
location of the aggressor. So the mind of Metar is a swarm mind. Metar
warriors are born in the underground hives and when grown-up they emerges
from gigantic, organic portals up to the surface. Wheter Metar has two sexes,
I really don't know, but such possibility might really exist, they
have to procreate in some way (or maybe they have three sexes (male, female,
which can't go pregnant and the third sex - female host - which only can go
pregnant. Perhaps yes, perhaps not.)). During Tabula Rasa war, Metar beings
emerges only inside their vehicles. The portals are virtually inpenetrable,
but what interesting, thay can be captured. The second Metar building is the
modified Metar starship, which when landing and anchoring in the ground, it
is transformed into colony core. Such mobile
colony
core can left the planet anytime. The source of Metar's unnatural power
comes from ambient energy of normal space, space, which surrounds every
normal planet. When the that 'link' is severd, Metar rapidly weakens and in
result dies. The war with Hubrin severed that link. Metar were forced to
choose: to hibernate in stasis chambers in their underground hives or die.
But someone have to maintain these fields and this is why they created the
Taubat - genetic slaves, but not genetic copies of Metar itself. The first
starship, which encountered the Taubat was Federation vessel - 'USS
Explorer NCC - 1966'. Finally, when Hubrin allied with the powers
from Alpha Quadrant, they formulated a plan to stop the Metar. The Hubrin
were deeply concerned about Metar rapid exit from dormancy, so they proposed
to build a special containment pillar (which was originaly used to seal
Metar worlds, but since Romulan starhip 'Melak'
accidentaly opened the anomaly, everything have to start again). Ultimatelly,
the Anomaly Device worked, but it also sucked colony commander (and his
colony), who's colonial forces triggered the activation system of the pillar,
as it was only possible to trigger AD from the planet where the device lied.
The only way to escape Tabula Rasa
now
was to capture a
Metar craft (colony core), which also worked. Colony commander
managed to escape and returned to the Alpha Quadrant, but ironically, 'thanks'
to this event, commander gave Metar what they truly desired: an exit from
sealed space. Shorlty after crew beam-out from Metar starship, the craft
exploded (somehow it's
engines condition
was fatal, probably, because of subspace transition)
and opened the way to anomalous systems. After that, an armada of Metar
starships immediately emerged from an anomaly wormhole (but how did they
manage to not damage their own engines??? I still don't get it.). The fate
of Alpha Quadrant remains (in point of New World's view) unknown, because
outro sequence clearly suggests that we should expect the second part of the
game, which was never created and which will never be created.....
Metar ground forces (from weakest
to the most powerful):
Metar Bur (armed scout of some kind):

Metar Dea (typical 'tank' plus
mentioned before 'interferer'):

Metar Nak (Metar's variant of 'photon artillery' vehicle):

Metar Snipers (long range 'tanks'):

Metar Mobile Shield Generator (Metar's varaint of 'normal'
MSG vehicle):

Young Metar Ras (commonly used by Romulan scientists to make
a weapon from it and later to use it against the Klingons (or even Metar)):

Metar Ras (effectively deadly, very fast firing Metar's
variant of 'advanced photon artilley' vehicle):

Metar structures:
Metar Active Portal (which, naturally, leads to the
underground hive, it's role: 'production facility'):

Metar colony core (Metar 'colony hub' of some kind):
