1. The game randomly crashes to the desktop.
2. When I try to install the game nothing happens. The install shield comes up then goes away. Then nothing happens. I am right back to my desktop.
3. The game is requesting that the original CD needs to be in the CD-ROM drive but it is in the CD-ROM drive.
4. When I am running the game the audio and weapon effects seems to go into a loop.
5. During game play my system reboots.
6. I receive the following error on launch: "Cannot set resolution".
7. The screen flickers.
8. The opening movie does not play.
9. The game will not start in full screen mode. It only loads in a window.
10. The game freezes when I try to start a multiplayer game.

1. The game randomly crashes to the desktop.
  • Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.
  • Set your desktop settings to 640 by 480 and High Color (16 bit).
  • All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.
  • Make sure the 3D hardware acceleration is turned all the way up.
    1) Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties.
    2) Select the Performance tab and click the Graphics button.
    3) Make sure the acceleration slider is set to Full.
    For Windows XP and 2000:
    1) Click on the Start button > Settings > Control Panel.
    2) Double-click the Display icon.
    3) Click the Settings tab.
    4) Click the Advanced button.
    5) Click the Troubleshoot tab.
    6) Make sure the acceleration slider is set to Full.

    2. When I try to install the game nothing happens. The install shield comes up then goes away. Then nothing happens. I am right back to my desktop.
    Try exploring the game CD. Go into the 'Setup' folder, and double-click on Setup.exe. This should start the install process.

    If the above didn't help, please do the following:

    Turn the hardware acceleration for your sound card to Basic.
    1) Click the Start button > Settings > Control Panel.
    2) Double-click on the Multimedia icon.
    3) Select the Audio tab.
    4) Click on the Advanced Properties button in the Playback section.
    5) Click on the Performance tab.
    6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left.
    7) Click Apply and then OK 2 times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications.

    NOTE: For Windows XP

    1) Click the Start button > Settings > Control Panel.
    2) Double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon.
    3) Click the Volume tab.
    4) Under Speaker settings, click the Advanced button.
    5) Click the Performance tab.
    6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left.
    7) Click Apply and then OK 2 times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications.

    With certain sound cards like the Diamond Monster MX400 and the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card the game will crash unless the sound acceleration is set to basic or none.

    • Win 9x
      1) Right-click on the desktop and select Properties.
      2) Now go to settings and click on Advanced Properties.
      3) Go to the Adapter tab and select adapter default for the refresh rate.
      4) Click OK and exit out of the display properties.


    • Windows 2000/XP
      1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
      2) Go to the settings tab and click on the Advanced button.
      3) Go over to the Monitor tab and select 60Hz for the monitor refresh rate.
      4) Click Apply and close out the window.

    8. The opening movie does not play.
    Try either reinstalling DirectX from the game CD or downloading the latest version of Windows Media Player from the Microsoft's website.

    10. The game freezes when I try to start a multiplayer game.
    There is a known issue for Multiplayer with Windows ME. With Dial-Up Networking installed on a Windows ME host, and autodial enabled under Internet Options, the host system will lock-up when selecting Start Game from the Net Lobby. To fix this problem, disable the Autodial feature under Internet Options.
